Character Creation
At the start of Last State, you define your survivor's background and capabilities. This determines your starting stats, skills, equipment and innate traits.
Attributes
There are four core attributes (stats) that range from 1 to 10. The base value for a survivor is 3.
- Strength (STR)
- Increases carry weight capacity (+3kg per point above base).
- Gained by: Hunting, Butchering, Carpentry.
- Agility (AGI)
- Affects stealth, movement, and dodge chances.
- Gained by: Fishing, Tracking, Stealth.
- Endurance (END)
- Increases resistance to injuries and physical trauma.
- Gained by: Surviving damage, strenuous physical activity.
- Intelligence (INT)
- Boosts experience gain rate for all skills.
- Affects medical effectiveness and complex crafting.
- Gained by: Crafting, Cooking, Farming.
Professions (Loadouts)
Your choice of profession determines your starting Attributes, Skills, and Equipment.
- Primary Skill: Starts at level 60-75.
- Secondary Skill: Starts at level 50-60.
- Other Skills: Start at level 0-50 (Cooking/Butchering 20-50, Farming/Stealth 10-40).

You must select an equal number of Positive and Negative perks to customize your character.
Positive Perks
- Strong Back: +20kg carry capacity.
- Keen Eye: +15 to Tracking and Gathering skills.
- Fast Healer: HP regeneration is 50% faster.
- Iron Stomach: 75% resistance to food poisoning from raw food/bad water.
- Cold Adapted: 30% slower warmth drain (more resistant to cold).
- Efficient Eater: 20% slower hunger drain.
- Water Conservator: 20% slower thirst drain.
- Thick Skinned: 15% damage reduction from all sources.
- Optimist: Morale drains 25% slower.
- Night Owl: Can work at night without fatigue/penalty.
Negative Perks
- Weak Back: -15kg carry capacity.
- Poor Vision: -10 to Tracking and Hunting skills.
- Slow Healer: HP regeneration is 30% slower.
- Sensitive Stomach: 2x chance of food poisoning.
- Cold Sensitive: 30% faster warmth drain (freeze faster).
- Big Appetite: 20% faster hunger drain.
- Dehydrates Quickly: 20% faster thirst drain.
- Thin Skinned: Take 15% more damage from injuries.
- Pessimist: Morale drains 25% faster.
- Light Sleeper: Must sleep every 24h (instead of the usual 36h) to avoid penalties.
